Improved Xero Support04.24.2014

From the Xero website:

With our latest release to Xero, we snuck in a couple of really awesome improvements to our help menu. It’s just the beginning of heaps of cool new features we have planned for finding help and contacting the Xero support team, but for now you’ll still see some immediate improvements.

If you can’t find what you need, you can always contact us in Support. This is the blue Contact Xero Support button at the bottom of the search results. By raising a ticket from within Xero we receive more information (rather than emailing) – like your organization’s name, product edition, your role, system, and browser version – all of which helps us find and get an answer to you faster.

Lastly, if you have a feature request you’ll now be directed to the Feature Request section of Community. This is where you can search for the feature you’d like and add your vote. If you can’t find an existing request, create your own that you and other users can vote on.

New Xero feature – Attach files to your financial data in Xero11.7.2013

Xero has recently released a new feature called Files which allows you to store documents in Xero.

No more storing files away in filing cabinets or folders on your computer where they aren’t readily available when you need them. With all your business data in Xero, it no longer makes sense to store your financial data and files separately. Files lets you attach multiple documents to almost anything in Xero and have them right at your fingertips, exactly where you expect to find them. Files can be associated with invoices, transactions, expense receipts, fixed assets, contacts, chart of accounts, bank accounts and even manual journals.

For example, you could attach contractual documentation associated with one of your clients, loan documents for a bank account, a picture of a fixed asset, or even attach a photo of a client.

Xero will allow you to store 1GB to begin with (that’s about 20,000 typical Word docs and enough to keep the average small business going for many years). And Xero will provide for increased storage in the future.

Tabbed Browsing within Xero06.28.2013

View multiple pages of your organisation in Xero at the same time by using tabbed browsing which opens a link in a new page.

There are 3 ways to do this:
1. Hold down Ctrl + Left Click on the link
2. Right-click on a link and select Open a new Tab
3. Ctrl + T to open a new tab

Note that you need to be using one of Xero’s supported browsers and can’t view multiple organisations at once.
